Yearning [20/11/2015]

Illusions gather in the air
As fluttering birds in a cage of webs.
A solid cue translucent, invisible,
Opens a heart and closes the mind.

A mirage is formed in the sands of hope
Another clue goes by
And nothing is what it seems.
Stars cross the ancient sky
And everything is what it is not.

A path unknown below our feet
Turns to dust as light descends
It’s more than I believed.
Is it not?

Where are those songs I used to hear?
Have they turned to nothingness in the void?
Dust that sparkles in the light.
It is not more than that.
Not anymore.

There are feathers that surround the dream
They float in a moment of desire
The ground trembles
And the life that was no longer shines.

We come to our senses.
The dream shatters into a thousand sparks.
But are we not still dreaming it?
In every step,
In every stare?

A shout,
Again so silent in the dawn of the night.
It pierces the reality we created
And the landscape is forever transformed.
I gaze upon it once more.

It is not what I thought.
It was more.
It was less.
It was nothing and all.
And then I realize,
We can never escape the dream.

Dor [16/11/2015]

Cold wind whispers in the night
As withering leaves rustle between
The bright circle cast by the lamppost light
And eternal darkness.

A step or two away,
Ten thousand miles,
Her figure becomes distant:
Unreal beyond reach.
With every stride, fifty thousand more,
She flies away.
A heartbeat, maybe two,
Five hundred years she’s gone.

Her face a long lost treasured memory:
Something to remember or yearn,
A soulless trinket of joy,
Of past lives;
An eternity of goodbyes and bygones
And words unsaid.

Another step, another thousand millenniums,
Six million light years away,
A black hole.
Her silhouette still visible like the light of a thousand stars
In the dark corners of a galaxy so far,
Beyond the lamppost light.

Another step.
A single blink.
A sudden stop.
She turns around.
A sweet smile and honey eyes.
Eternal.
Time turns to feathers and then she’s gone.
I blink again, and the light flickers.
I stare beyond the universe past the lamppost light.
The wind blows again.
Withered leaves rustle in the night.

ζῆλος [16/11/2015]

I am the light of darkness,
The blackened sun and curse of many lands.
The angel of the lost,
The feathered fiend of those who pray.
Ashes for the saints
And roses for the dead.

I am not the lowly pawn of fates foretold,
But the foreseen king that praises the wicked and destroys the fair:
The Prophet and the prophesized.
I am the Lust and the Greed
The foremost and the last.

I greet the night with moonlit eyes
For she is my mistress,
Mine and no one else's.
And dare you gaze upon her light
And claim her or the stars.
And dare you call her by a different name
Or worship her otherwise, or turn your eyes from her.
For I will end you and pierce your heart,
And break your skin, and cut your hands,
And bleed your eyes, and crush your knees,
And feast upon your bones.
And damn your soul.

For I am all you fear and all you are.
For I am shouts and anguish,
And blood and flesh, and justice and truth.

For I am that and so much more.
For I made god, and all is mine.
For I am human and nothing is more.
For we are the same and yet we are not.
